ORDINANCE 801

AN ORDINANCE OF THE COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, DELEGATING TO THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY CORONA CERTAIN POWERS TO ACT AS THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY FOR CERTAIN INCORPORATED TERRITORY PROPOSED FOR INCLUSION IN A CITY OF CORONA REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT AREA.

 

WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Corona, in conjunction with the City of Corona, desires to form a redevelopment project area ("Area") which would comprise an area currently outside but contiguous to the territorial limits of the City of Corona; and

            WHEREAS, on January 27, 1999, the City of Corona adopted Resolution Nos. 99-01 and 99-09 requesting that the County authorize the City to redevelop said Area; and

            WHEREAS, on July 27, 1999, the County of Riverside entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Corona for the orderly development and redevelopment of the El Cerrito and Temescal Canyon areas; and

            WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 33213 of the California Community Redevelopment Law (CRL), Health and Safety Code Section 33000, et seq., the legislative body of one community may by ordinance authorize redevelopment of an area within its territorial limits by another community if such area is contiguous to such other community; and

            WHEREAS, the County desires to authorize the City of Corona to undertake redevelopment in the unincorporated area shown in Exhibit "A" hereto.

            NOW, THEREFORE, THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE DOES ORDAIN as follows:

            SECTION 1: The Board of Supervisors hereby delegates to the City of Corona Redevelopment Agency the authority to act as the redevelopment agency for the area shown on Exhibit A, including all the rights, powers and privileges pertaining thereto under law, as provided in Section 33213 of the California Community Redevelopment Law (Health and Safety Code Section 33000, et seq.).

            SECTION 2:   The Board of Supervisors shall retain all the rights, powers and privileges of a legislative body under the CRL as they pertain to the area shown on Exhibit A, including the authority to hold a public hearing and adopt an ordinance approving the Plan Amendment.

            SECTION 3: This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after its adoption.

            SECTION 4: The Clerk of the Board of Supervisors is hereby directed to transmit a duly signed and executed copy of this Ordinance to the Executive Director of the Corona Redevelopment Agency.
